2014 is a big year for Apple as the company in many ways has to reignite its relationship with the consumer space and once again place itself as the innovative force in tech. Comments Off on New iPhones, iPads, and maybe an iWatch part of ‘best product pipeline’ in 25 years
It has widely been reported that Apple might use WWDC as the place to debut its iOS wearable device unofficially called the iWatch. Anyone hoping those rumors might be proven accurate at next month’s developer’s conference will sadly be disappointed to learn that the likelihood of that happen has fallen.
Mark Gurman and John Paczkowski have both reported that Apple will not debut any new products at WWDC. Gurman of 9to5Mac and Paczkowski of Recode (formerly the Wall Street Journal/All Things D) have two of the best track records when it comes to Apple event rumors and both of them say Apple will not launch an iWatch. Instead, WWDC will focus on software. We will see what’s new iOS 8, including the new Health book app that tracks fitness and health stats, and lots of new additions to OS X. However, there won’t be much hardware news.
There’s a small chance that both writers are wrong, but the odds of that happening are small. WWDC will be the launch of Healthbook, so one would think that Apple would use it as an opportunity to discuss its health-oriented wearable; however, that doesn’t seem to be the case. On the bright side, you can look forward to a lot of new things in the software that powers your phone, tablets, and your computer. Your watch will be updated some other time.
