Is the iWatch Apple’s “big surprise” during the iPhone 6 launch?

We know that Apple will be launching the iPhone 6 at a press event on September 9th, the invites have been sent and we are now waiting with eager anticipation. However, Cupertino may have one more surprise up its sleeve and it could be huge! Reports have gathered pace suggesting that the company is ready to launch the iWatch alongside the iPhone 6 in 11 days’ time.
The iWatch is probably the most rumoured Apple product of all time and we have been discussing it for around two years. There have been plenty of false dawns regarding this device, so we are not getting too ahead of ourselves, though it is looking increasingly likely that the smartwatch is imminent. It would be Apple’s first wearable and judging Tim Cook’s comments on this market, the iWatch is going to be special and possibly even a game changer.
What started as a trickling rumour yesterday has turned into a torrent, so I tapped up my source within Apple’s marketing team to see what he had to say. I was not told anything specific about the iWatch, but it was revealed to me that the company has a “huge surprise” in store for the September 9th event. I have toyed with the idea that the surprise could be the iPhone phablet, but that product has been rumoured enough that it would not be a surprise at this point.
With all the reports of the iWatch and my sources “big surprise” comment, it looks as though Cupertino is throwing its considerable weight behind the wearable market. Of course, launching the iWatch alongside the iPhone 6 makes plenty of sense, as any wearable from Apple is likely to rely on the iPhone to get full functionality, much like all smartwatches.
We will be reporting fully during Apple’s press event, so if the iWatch does land you will hear about it with DailyiPhone first.
