Google Play Dominated by App Store in 2014

Google Play is the king of app stores, that’s if you look at how many apps are downloaded at least. In terms of app downloads, App Annie’s research found that Google Play crushes the Apple App Store, which is not much of a surprise considering Android totally dominates the mobile market. However, Apple’s App Store is still really the king of app stores, because it does the thing all companies want… it makes money.
Much more money than Google Play too, with Apple’s service raking in more than 60% more revenue than Google’s offering. It was a huge 2014 for the App Store as it made 40% as much money over the year as it had through years 2008 to 2013. That accounted for $10 billion in revenue and is staying successful in major markets like United States, Japan, Europe, and South Korea.
