Apple Inc. said Thursday the white iPhone would be released in the spring, reiterating a projection the company made in October. The company had previously indicated that manufacturing problems had delayed its release. The Cupertino, Calif.-based gadget maker declined to comment about which carrier would initially carry the white iPhone 4. Bloomberg earlier reported that both AT&T Inc. and Verizon Wireless would get the white version. Verizon Wireless is a joint venture between Verizon Communications Inc. and Vodafone Group PLC.

Nokia has filed a further complaint with the United States International Trade Commission (ITC) alleging that Apple infringes additional Nokia patents in virtually all of its mobile phones, portable music players, tablets and computers. The seven Nokia patents in the new complaint relate to Nokia's pioneering innovations that are now being used by Apple to create key features in its products in the areas of multi-tasking operating systems, data synchronization, positioning, call quality and the use of Bluetooth accessories.

Apple won a round in its patent fight with Nokia on Friday as a U.S. trade panel judge ruled that the U.S. company did not violate any of five Nokia patents. In its complaint, Nokia asked the trade panel to bar the importation of Apple devices that infringe Nokia patents, citing in particular the iPhone 3GS mobile phone and iPod Nano portable music player.

Apple was under pressure Monday to yank a controversial application from its iTunes shop for software for iPhone, iPad, and iPod devices. More than 110,000 people had electronically signed an online petition at a website calling for Apple to remove the Exodus International application from iTunes. Exodus, a Florida-based Christian group that advocates freeing oneself from homosexuality through religion, has publicly condemned the petition as an assault on free speech and an improper spin on the application's purpose.
