Space Frontier forecasts a gloomy future in which we’ve decimated Earth’s resources by the year 2150. Actually, that could be a little optimistic, depending on who you talk to.  Luckily, the future offers more than a barren, uninhabitable Earth.  There’s also interplanetary travel, space stations, cute robot chicks, outer space adventure drama, and, thank goodness, other planets to live on. Except, they’re not quite ready for primetime, these other planets. In order to survive, the human race will have to colonize thirty other worlds, and colonizing is, as it turns out, hard work.  There are buildings to build and upgrade and bad guys to outmaneuver, and planet smashing asteroids to avoid.

I thought I’d seen just about enough castle defense games on iOS to last me the rest of my life.  There’s a trend for dumbing games down so much to appeal to the casual audience that’s been way overused in my opinion.  Fantasy Defense doesn’t do that; in fact, with added RPG elements and fast-paced action, it should appeal to gamers who want something a tad more substantial.  But it also has lots of potential to suck in the casual player, too.

Can it really have been twenty years since the landmark title Another World launched on the nearly forgotten Amiga?  According to the calender, it can.  Another World debuted on the Amiga and has conquered a variety of platforms over the years; iOS lovers should be honored to find that the game’s 20^th anniversary incarnation has found its way to iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad.
