Riots Rings is an interesting new game for the iPhone, iPad and iPad 2 (it is also available as a desktop version via the Mac App Store). The game is reminiscent of Luxor and Bejewelled in pairing a team of three and there the similarity ends.

Riot Rings is a fun game to play and brings unexpected surprises around every corner. You can play in several different modes, Zen mode, Play Campaign or Free Play. A map guides you on your progress throughout the game modes. A round starts quite simply with the match up of the animals into a bunch of three. Every now and then an animal will growl at you to remind you of the need to speed up to get the round completed.

Graphically the game is very beautiful particularly with emphasis on the background and design of the characters. The game helps you out with some guidance tools at the beginning and as you progress things become more intuitive. However, do not get too comfortable thinking that the game-play ends here. Each round becomes increasingly exciting and more challenging. Unfortunately, for us, the game entices us to play more and more and to have just one more try to complete a round and so we progress ever onwards and upwards. New features are introduced as you become more experienced and clear more rounds with the introduction of new animals, appliances and extra’s being added to the ring as you try to clear it. Shooting needles to slow down the ‘ring’, quick-flip to change the animal, concentration is key, speed is the challenge and quick eye-coordination and of course, no interruptions when you are in the middle of a challenge. Sometimes, just when you thought you were finished, another ring magically appears for you to clear. I must remind you to read the instructions to each new round to avoid floundering around helplessly as you desperately try to achieve your goal and clear your ring only to realize you had forgot to read the requirements of this round.

I love this game. So much that it is difficult to put it down. The game is portrayed beautifully on the screen with complete clarity. The animal actions are fun to watch as is their sound and the panic as the ‘ring’ nears its closure. Riot rings provides great game-play not only for extensive play periods but also for a few minutes here and there as your scores and progress are kept until you next open the application.

The Mugen Power Battery Case for iPhone 4 is available as a slip-on device with two halves which then clip into place. This allows you to carry your iPhone in the power case while at the same time equipping your iPhone for the extra services that the case offers.

The Mugen Power Battery Case consists of a built-in Li Polymer batter, voltage 3.7v and a capacity of (mAh) 1500. It is available in brown or blue and comes with the USB to micro usb charging lead. I opted for the blue which is a dark navy nearly black colour. The material used gives the case a soft touch feel to it with a warmth to it that is difficult to describe. The iPhone 4 fits quite snuggly in the power case and requires a bit of a tug to release it from the case. The aim of the power case is to remain on the iPhone and with in mind you can charge the power case and the iPhone at the same time.  In addition, you can synch as normal via your pc or laptop to iTunes.

Once clipped into place the power case acts as a protective case of sorts until it is needed for its charging purposes. At any time to suit yourself you can switch the power case on and you will immediately hear a beep as the power case begins to charge the iPhone. You can for example charge your phone when you have 50% charge left in its device or wait until it beeps low battery or the device completely switches itself off (please note that the Mugen Power Case does become quite warm whilst it is charging).

The Mugen Battery Power Case has an on/off switch and blue led lights to inform you when it is charging and to keep you aware of how full a charge it is holding at any given time. With the power case on you have access to the existing Apple iPhone outlets including the volume keys, mute key, home key, on/off key and headphone socket. There are additional facilities built within the power case so that sound from from your speaker is just as good if not better than before placing the iPhone in the power case.

For me to make a fairly good judgement on the Mugen Power Case, I opted to switch it ‘on’ to charge the iPhone when I received either the low battery warning or the iPhone had emptied and switched off unbeknown to me. On nearly every occasion the power case charged my iPhone battery to 50% from the iPhone being off or on low battery (10% and less). The only readable change I observed was approximately a reading of 40% which occurred when I was actively using the iPhone whilst it was being charged by the power case. With this in mind, the Mugen enabled me to get through each and every day without needing to charge the phone or the power case in any 24 hour span.I consider myself a medium because I rarely use my iPhone as an mp3 player but I do use it to play games and I am constantly using the internet services, particularly Safari, Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp and iMessage and I have four or five individual email accounts set-up for push email.

The Mugen Power Case is a solid-built device and this is reflected in both its size and weight. It does add bulk to the iPhone which should be expected because of the purpose for which it was built. However, saying that, it is well worth the additional facility and comfort of knowing your phone will not die on you in the space of a 24 hour day. For my purposes using the Mugen Power Case gives you an effective extended battery and case to help you through your day.

I found the Venture a pleasure to use and the admiring glances. It held my iPad 2 securely and I did not worry about it accidentally slipping out of the case or slipping out of my hands. The stand was sturdy and the solid build and materials make this a particularly highly attractive case for my iPad 2.

Each Creature case arrives with the Case-Mate logo enbossed inside the case with a little logo on the outside where it does not marr the design. Also protected are the volume buttons and the on/off button where the keys are encased within the rubberised textured silicone base. Creatures are a great conversation starter and a guarantee of a second look.  Some of the collection such as the Waddler includes ‘charms’ attached to the bottom of the Creature Case, for example ‘Hoot’ is attached to the brown owl case and a ‘fish’ adorns the penguin case. The iPhone sits comfortably within each case and the textures and raised pattern of the design helps to give it a touch’n'feel sensation, a relaxing option indeed for those of us who will love the touch-tactile and aesthetics of these cases. Each Creature fits the iPhone 4 with individual corners to suit the Creature design and has a raised lip around the case to secure and hold your phone.  Although the case provides cover for the volume keys and on/off keys, the buttons are absolutely usable while encased in a Creature and ports such as the camera, mute-key, headphone slot and charging port are all kept clear and accessible at all times.

The Snugg Ultra Thin Case for iPad 2 is constructed from Polyurethane Leather to the front and connected with a TPU back cover with soft microfiber lining the interior of both panels. The iPad is easily inserted and simply clips into place.  The designer Snugg logo adds the finishing touch to the front of the case. The Proporta Shine Case iPad 2 is made to the precise specification of the iPad 2. The protective case is manufactured from high gloss, hard wearing, leather style material.  The case is hand crafted and designed to give you full access to your device, ports and controls while held securely within the case.

The Proporta Shine Case iPad 2 arrived and the high gloss look  attracted very admiring glances. I had no need to read instructions as it was quite clear how to put the iPad 2 into the case and how to secure it. The iPad 2 slipped comfortably via the top opening into the case on the first attempt and a flap at the top of the case needed to be released and secured under the back of the iPad 2 once placed in the case. Once the flap was tucked in, this secured the device and I had no concerns about the iPad 2 slipping out in error, even should the case be lifted up, upside down. The Shine Case has a soft lining which protects and cushions your iPad from scratches that can occur with other case designs.The four sides fitted securely around the iPad leaving the display  clear and free for use. I have a screen protector on my iPad in addition to a Gelaskin and neither of these caused any problems using the Shine Case. At opposite ends are cut-outs for the iPad home key as well as the front camera. There are cut-outs for: the connection charging port, access to volume/mute key, on/off key, headphone slot, speaker and camera. The case has stitching around it which helps emphasise the casing structure as well as offer extra security with the double-binding stitch.  The Shine Case is secured and locked into place via a magnetic tab, which acts in the same way as Apple’s Smart Cover in that it switches the iPad on/off on opening/closing of the case.  At the front of the case sits the Proporta Logo and the design imprint matches the design on the inside of the case.  The back of the case houses access to the camera and this is wide and clear enough so as not to cause any shadows or marr any images take with the back camera.  At the back also sits a little tab which acts as a support stand for the Shine Case.  The case can be used in several positions from completely flat to an angle suitable for typing to an angle for viewing or display.  The Shine Case does add a little bulk to the iPad as you would expect.  Opening the case activates the iPad to switch on and the high gloss of the Shine Case in no way detracts from viewing the iPad. The left-hand side of the case on opening reveals a business card slot where four business cards or similar can be carried or stored and an inside pocket for documents.  The vinyl silk feel of the inside front cover protects the iPad and as it is completely one layer there is no possibility of it scratching the iPad.

The iPhone 4 battery gives us more time than its predecessor the iPhone 3GS but, nevertheless this can be insufficient for the medium and power user of which I would class myself as the latter.

However, being a power user means that I cannot use my iPhone for music. If, I were to do so, I would not get through to the evening without my phone battery dying of exhaustion. So, for my needs I need to look beyond Apple to Mugen Power. Mugen Power is known worldwide as the producer of high performance batteries for mobile phones and other electronic devices.

I now have in my possession  the Mugen Power 1500Ah battery case for the Apple iPhone 4. It takes around one week for the battery to be conditioned to prime capacity ready for use. So far, it is in 1st class position on a day to day basis. However, the real test will come next week when I am overseas. I look forward to catching up with you then with a full review.

I had thought placing the Skin on the iPad 2 would be extremely difficult and video representations on the Internet end quickly leaving me with the suggestion that the fitting of the Skin takes much longer than it would seem. However, I am no longer surprised. It took me two to three tries to align the camera access, mute switch, volume key, microphone and headphone port. Once that was achieved, the rest of the GelaSkin was placed down easily, efficiently and with zero obstacles.

The time it took me in total, including the couple of tries as mentioned above – less than 5 minutes. That is an achievement and a beautiful way to start my day.

The GelaSkin I have chosen is fully compatible with my Apple leather smart cover in black and suits the design perfectly. The GelaSkin in daily use gives my iPad 2 an extra firm grip and I am particularly happy with the protection it offers to the back of my iPad 2 when it is placed on surfaces that otherwise may scratch or cause it to scuff the metal.
