Face detection APIs in iOS 5

As usual when Apple releases a new major version of iOS there are some new APIs to play with for the developers. Two of them in iOS 5 has to do with face detection. One is for locating a persons eyes and mouth, and the other for detecting faces.

There might also be an upgrade to Photo Booth for iPad that includes effects from the version for MacOS X Lion, but that is still just speculations. What is for sure is that this will open up for new interesting and entertaining apps to play with, and hopefully ease up some post editing of photos and maybe even videos.

RedSn0w jailbreaking iPhone and iPod Touch iOS 4.3.5

It’s now reported that you can jailbreak all iDevices except the iPad 2 running iOS 4.3.5 with RedSn0w only by pointing it at 4.3.4. It is a tethered jailbreak, so you’ll need to reactivate it after each reboot.

It’s not recommended to upgrade to iOS 4.3.5, as the only difference from 4.3.3 is an improved security validation, which means that Apple is protecting the device from being jailbroken. This solution is primarily for those unlucky users forced to run iOS 4.3.5.
