Google Now has always been preferable to use on Android because of the ability to get notifications related to travel and appointment, something iOS users have previously been unable to access. An update to Google Search for iOS has enabled push notifications and a few other features.
Google Search version 3.1 includes the addition of notifications, which means Google can now send alerts to the Notification Center when it’s time to head to a meeting or run to a transit hub to take the last train or bus home. It can also show reminders, which can personalized to contain any message and appear at a set time or location.
iPhone and iPad users may notice that several new cards can be accessed for tickets to movies and concerts, boarding passes for flights, car rental information, and a list for upcoming events. The app has also undergone changes to have hands-free search when within the app by saying “OK Google.”
