Forbes has reported that Verizon has introduced a system to prevent jailbreak tethering apps like MyWi from connecting to its network. From today, if you use one of these apps, you will be redirected away from the webpage that you wanted to visit to a specially designed Verizon webpage where you will be asked to upgrade to an official tethering plan.
AT&T also said that it would be forcing repeat offending jailbreak tetherers to its tethering plan but never gave a date. It now looks like Verizon are taking that lead. Verizon users will only have to cough up $20 a month for a tethering plan, AT&T customers tethering plan costs a whopping $45 a month.
Are you a Verizon iPhone subscriber and have you been asked to pay up more?
