Two weeks ago we reported research firm Informa saying that tablet’s with Google’s Android operating software will only catch up with Apple’s iPad and beat it in 2016. Today, BGR is reporting that Apple’s iPad will still dominate the tablet market even after 10 years. According to Needham analyst Charlie Wolf in his latest report, he sees the iPad’s share of consumer tablet shipments declining gradually over the next nine years to just 60% in 2020. This is in contrary to Informa analyst David McQueen who said “From 2013, as cheaper and more advanced Android tablets enter the market, we forecast that sales will pick up considerably, eventually surpassing iPad sales in 2016,” McQueen added “We have seen a huge explosion in the tablet market in recent years, driven primarily by the iPad, and we estimate that the market will go from strength to strength, growing from under 20 million tablets sold in 2010, to over 230 million in 2015,”
Still plenty of time for some great new iPad’s to come our way and who knows what Apple will come up with in the next 10 years.
