iPhone app: IconHarvester   Automatic Icon Downloader

Personalize your iPhone and iPod touch with incredible ease and speed. Never before has installing themes been just as simple as installing apps. Select your favorite icons from a theme and give your device your own unique style. No more tedious icon searches and installations with Terminal commands or slow FTP clients.

  • Landscape mode support for the theme customization page.

New in v1.1:

  • Where some apps have missing icons that have not been themed by the artist, IconHarvester will now generate those additional missing icons. (This feature will only activate if a theme contains the standard AppIconMask, AppIconShadow, and AppIconOverlay image files.)
  • Webpages saved to your home screen (also called WebClips) are now themed like regular apps.
  • An alphabetical index has been added to the theme customization page for faster scrolling. (similar to the Contacts app)
  • Support for switching the icons of themes installed into `/Library/Themes`. Themes installed manually or from Cydia usually get installed there.
  • Squashed some bugs.

Macworld 2010: Square demos their card reader

Imagine being able to take credit card payments with a small card reader attached to your iPhone. Then imagine that the card reader is free, that you don’t have to sign up for a merchant account, and that the software enabling the technology only costs about $2. In April, you’ll be able to start taking credit card payments with Square’s new technology. TUAW editor Steve Sande visited Square’s Jim McKelvey at Macworld Expo 2010 and finds out how the technology works.
